Program Requirements

Students pursuing a bachelor of arts in Classics have two concentration options: Classical Civilizations, and Classical Languages and Literature. Each concentration has its own requirements, listed below.聽

Classical Civilizations聽

In addition to the university, College of Liberal Arts, foreign language/global studies and professional development requirements, students in this program must complete the following two courses.聽

  • The Romans
  • The Greeks聽

Students will also complete two language courses, two writing-intensive courses, one art history course, three Greek and Roman classic courses, and one course in a related department鈥攕uch as Anthropology, Art History, History, Philosophy or Religion鈥攊n consultation with a faculty advisor.

Classical Languages and Literature

Students in this program will need to complete university, College of Liberal Arts, foreign language/global studies and professional development requirements.

Students must then satisfy a minimum of 35 credits in Ancient Greek, Latin, Greek and Roman Classics and related course work. This includes reading courses, a mythology course, electives and a writing capstone.
